Biography

Jimmy Fredriksson, born 1971 in July. At a early age he started to take interest in playing the piano. Also taking piano lessons but was never interested in learning how to play other composed music. He was more into making his own compositions. He also played the drums taking classes. He used to spend the summers in the northern parts of Sweden, there they had an electronic organ that had autocomp. On this organ he spent several hours playing/composing some simple songs.

At a later age he got a computer, a ZX spectrum 48k where he did some simple programming making drumsounds out of different waveforms and assigning them to different keys. Later on he got an Commodore 64. To this computer he bought a sampler and a FM expansion module wich had a full size keyboard. This was around 1984-85. In the same timeframe he also wrote a song for a school show. This was the first ever song he wrote that was played for a live audience.

In music class he was always involved with some othe students in his class playing in a class band. They did several performances over three years.

in 1988 Jimmy moved on to another computer, the commodore Amiga. This was huge because this was the only computer by the time that had 2 stereo channels of 8-bit sampling playback. It often compared itself to the fairlight. It wasn't the same offcourse but it has sampling playback and that was awesome. Jimmy bought a sampler (Applied Visions - Future Sound). With this sampler he started to sample drums from different songs and sounds from different synthersizers. Jimmy became quite famous composer in the Amiga scene under the name "Firefox".

Jimmy moved on to real keyboards teaming up with a friend (Björn Hardestam) making eurodance tracks. Before in the Amiga scene Jimmy met a guy named Mattias Andersson who wanted to be a manager in the music business. Mattias had gotten to know some of the new big names in the music industry in Sweden. So Mattias took Jimmy and his with him and presented him for several artists and producers like Max Martin, Herbie, E-type.

Jimmy moved on starting to work with other artists producers. One thing led to another and Jimmy was given a spot doing the graveyard shift in a studio complex called "The Janglers Inn". This was Ola Håkanssons studios. Ola Håkansson was the singer in the Swedish group "Secret Service". There Jimmy worked with other producers like "Bass Nation" and groups like "Antiloop". Jimmy started to work with a group called "Cool James & Black Teacher" on their upcoming album after their famous hit in Sweden "Dr. Feelgood" & "Godfather".  They worked on some tracks but Eurodance became unpopular and the album was put aside.

Cool James still continued to work with Jimmy and they wrote a couple of songs together wich was released on Cool James solo album Soft Like A Pillow (see discography).

After this Jimmy became a father and circumstances forced him to make a make a choice. Jimmy gave up his dream of making music. Despite of everything life throws at you jimmy never completly left the music.

Jimmy has also worked with singer/songwriter "Tiff Lacey" together with Fredrik Johansson AKA E-Mortal. Fredrik & Jimmy made a remix of a song "Why Keep On" wich won the sparkeling water company Lokas Bubblare. Tiff sang on several tracks on ATB's album "No Silence. ATB made hits like "9PM (til I come)" & "Extasy".
